White House Fallout: Trump Accuses Musk of Derangement, Threatens Contract Cuts
The war of words between former allies Donald Trump and Elon Musk escalated dramatically as Trump unleashed scathing criticism on the tech mogul, branding him "crazy" and warning of potential government contract forfeiture.
"I asked him (Elon) to leave," Trump declared on his Truth Social platform, adding, "The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to terminate government subsidies and contracts for Elon." In another post, the former U.S. President stated, "Elon was – draining his energy – I asked him to leave, and I rescinded his electric vehicle mandate, which forced everyone to buy these cars nobody wants (and which he knew months ago I would do!), then he went crazy!"
Musk's Counter-Attack: New Political Party & Explosive Epstein Allegation
In a swift and audacious response, Musk launched a poll on his X account, asking: "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents 80% of the middle class?" In under an hour, the poll garnered over a million votes, with a resounding majority choosing "Yes."
Following this, Musk dropped what he termed a "mega bomb" in another tweet: "Time to drop the mega bomb: Trump is in the Epstein files.
Musk concluded, "Remember this tweet in the future, for the truth will emerge."
He also directly addressed Trump's comments regarding the electric vehicle mandate, calling it a "clear lie. Very sad."
Friction Mounts: Trump's "Disappointment" & Musk's Denial of Budget Bill Knowledge
Earlier on Thursday, the former U.S. President expressed his "great displeasure" with Elon Musk's criticisms of the massive budget bill, indicating uncertainty about the continuation of his "great relationship" with his close ally.
"Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if it will remain that way," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during his reception of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
He continued, "I am very disappointed in Elon. I helped him a lot. He knew the details of the bill more than anyone here. He had no objection to it. Suddenly, he had a problem, and it only escalated when he learned that we would cut the electric vehicle mandate."
Minutes after this statement, Musk retorted to Trump, stating: "Trump's statement is false, I was never presented with this bill even once, and it was passed in the dead of night so quickly that almost no one in Congress could read it!"
